Back to School - Sweden

08/25/2022

Swedish schools have already opened their doors to students on Monday. But there aren't any flamboyant ceremonies where students wear uniforms and give flowers to teachers. Children have the freedom of choice and wear whatever they feel comfortable in.

Each district independently determines when to open up schools. Usually, it happens one or two weeks before September. Parents get emails with general information, a list of necessary things, and some questionnaires.

But they don't need to buy much, just some clothes and backpacks. The school provides notebooks and stationary! Absolutely for free!!!

Lunches are also free of charge. So parents don't have to get up early to pack lunchboxes.

Many schools open up on Wednesdays or Thursdays and have fewer classes. It gives students a couple of days to know the teacher, school, and class rules.
